Job Description

Labcorp seeks a Research Assistant for its Animal Operations team in Greenfield, Indiana to conduct preclinical safety and toxicity studies on pharmaceutical and chemical compounds. The role involves animal husbandry, dosing techniques, sample collection, and documentation of research findings while maintaining AAALAC standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct animal research studies evaluating drug safety, effectiveness, and toxicity in early development phases
• Perform dosing techniques, bleeding procedures, and biological sample collection from research animals
• Collect measurements including body weight, food consumption, temperature, and blood pressure
• Monitor animal behavior for changes and document observations and findings in laboratory information management systems
• Maintain animal care standards compliant with AAALAC International guidelines

Requirements

• Associate's degree in veterinary technology or related program, OR Bachelor's in Animal Science/Biology/Wildlife Studies
• Alternatively: 2+ years college in related sciences field plus 1-2 years hands-on laboratory or farm animal care experience
• Ability to assess and differentiate normal from abnormal species-specific animal behavior
• Competency with standard laboratory equipment including scales, pipettes, and measurement tools
• Comfort working with small and large animals in research environments
• AALAC certification preferred but not required

Compensation: $22/hr
